Ishfaq Ahmed appointed as Head Coach of India U-16

The All India Football Federation (AIFF) Technical Committee has unanimously recommended former India international Ishfaq Ahmed as the Head Coach of the India U-16 national team.

Ahmed, who is a native of Srinagar, has a wealth of experience in coaching at the youth level. He has previously worked as an assistant coach at Jamshedpur FC and Kerala Blasters, and he was also the interim head coach of the Blasters in 2021.

The Technical Committee was impressed with Ahmed’s coaching philosophy and his ability to develop young players. They believe that he is the right person to lead the India U-16 team in the upcoming AFC U-16 Championship qualifiers.

The India U-16 team will begin their preparations for the AFC U-16 Championship qualifiers in the coming months. The qualifiers will be held in September 2023, and the top four teams from each group will qualify for the AFC U-16 Championship, which will be held in 2024.

Ishfaq Ahmed is a former India international footballer who played as a midfielder. He is a native of Srinagar, and he made his senior international debut in 2003.

Ahmed went on to play for a number of clubs in India, including JCT, Mohun Bagan, and Dempo. He was also part of the India team that won the 2008 Nehru Cup.
